Envisioning quiet hours at sea knitting away, I packed for our cruise last weekend.
In my fantasy, it was a beautiful thing: I'd get caught up on Secret of the Stole and Mystic Waters. I would also complete two more pattern sections on the Palette Fair Isle. Ahh, fantasy; some days it's the only thing that makes reality bearable!
Reality however, is often something quite different. What was I thinking? Secret of the Stole with it's charts AND beading? Palette Fair Isle for which I packed not two, not three, but seven different colors of yarn? Mystic Waters which requires 97.5% of my attention when I work on it? I even carried all three with me when we went to Atlantis in the Bahamas.
Palette saw three rows done. Mystic Waters had a photo shoot and Secret of the Stole never saw the light of day.
If I had it to do all over again, I'd...I'd... You know what? I'd pack the exact same things again. In fact, I'd probably also throw in a set of dpns in case I wanted to knit socks instead. You never know when you may be stranded on a desert isle!
