We'll Always Have Paris

Week 2 of The Documented Life Project has to do with gesso. Using it as a base, using it as an element...using it.

I now have the beginnings of a background for this. I stenciled with the gesso and then turned the stencil over to tamp it off, creating the reverse pattern. I like this stencil that really isn't a stencil, but a sheet of metal from a kit to make a candle cover. It looks so Moroccan to me.

There's a Moorish tower in Guayaquil, Ecuador that has a design very similar to this at the top and when you look through it there is a hill in the distance with houses of the most amazing colors. It's called Cerro Santa Anna.

I was trying to get the sense of looking through those windows but was about as successful in achieving this as I was in getting a good photograph through them.

Adrenaline Rush

I love the weekends of the airshow! It seems I'm usually in the garden and occasionally will catch the jets flying overhead and that sound of jets just gets my adrenaline flowing!

Today was gorgeous so it was an outside photography kind of day and we headed to the airshow!

I feel lucky to have caught this one. I usually got so caught up in the aerial acrobatics that I forget to take pictures. That's okay though. I think we miss a lot of what's going on around us when we get too focused on photographing it.

I See Zentangle Patterns...

It seems like forever since I've done any Zentangling and everywhere I look, I see zentangle patterns!

Stop the Car!

It's been a busy, running around kind of day, so my "creative" today is a bit of photography.

We were driving through a fairly affluent neighborhood in Orlando today when I spotted this in someone's front yard. When I yelled "Stop the car!" most husbands would have assumed that there was some sort of emergency. Fortunately, my husband knows better.

Why is That?

I have two kids. That equates to two empty baby books.

I have two file cabinets full of pictures (the old school kind) and ephemera from trips, holidays and birthdays galore. That equates to one file cabinet full of unused scrap booking stuff.

Yet. YET. Given the opportunity to document the first 31 days of 2015, have the photographs printed and put in an up-cycled photo book which was hand decorated and the photographs documented to within an inch of their lives AND send said photo book to a complete stranger on the other side of the country, I was all over it!

Why is that?

And the book on the right? Eight bound photos of my morning routine. Also to be sent to a complete stranger.

Maybe, just maybe I'll be inspired to get some pictures into their own albums for my own family.

Nah. I don't think so either.

Okay, Who Was Playing With My Computer?

Sat down at my computer, wiggled the mouse and this came on the screen! Scared the puddin' out of me! I thought it was some kind of  yellow-eyed, fanged flying pig!

Someone (I won't mention any names, Michael) was playing in photo booth on my computer and didn't shut it off!
