Well! Here I am in beautiful Munich, Germany!
Margie and I arrived here two hours late due to some wonderful Atlanta, Ga. Delta service.
Actually, everything was going so smoothly. We left Orlando an hour early as our original flight was scheduled to leave an hour late. The nice lady at the ticket counter pointed this out and got us on a better flight.
While in Atlanta, I scooted down three terminals to buy a bottle of Johnny Walker for Martin, Margie´s brother-in-law, picked up lunch and we ate with minimal time to spare to board our plane. Boarding was a breeze and we were seated together in a lovely bulkhead spot. Then we sat. First, there were bags checked onto the flight for which there were no people checked onto the plane. Delay 1: Remove the unknown bags. Thank you TSA. Down the runway we head. Delay 2: Planes lined up to take off. We inched along. Delay 3: The plane was 10,000 pounds overweight and in the Georgia heat, it could not take off. Back to the gate to remove 10,000 pounds of cargo. Delay 4: One person said we were the right weight and another said we were still overweight. A bicker battle. Delay 5: We were so far back in the line for takeoff, the pilot came on and said, "I can´t even see plane number one and even if I could, my co-pilot can´t count that high." I hate a pilot that thinks he has a sense of humor!
At last, at 7:20pm, our 4:25pm flight took off. Hurray!
One good thing though, is my second Jaywalker sock is on it´s way again! After sock one had an auspicious start on Kathmandu followed by completion at hospitals, doctor´s offices and emergency rooms and sock two limping along at hospitals, doctor´s offices and emergency rooms, the heel was completed and turned on the flight to Munich. (Insert photo here!) I knew these were travelling socks!
Margie´s sisters are a couple of hoots! Ingeborg is 79 and has purple streaks in her blonde (gray) hair. She seems to live life to the fullest and I would want to be her friend. I think she would be a great cohort in crime. Her husband, Martin, is delightful and giving.
Erika, the elder sister, is also hysterical! She won´t wear lipstick because she says it makes her look like a prostitute. The cracks Inge up. She says, "Look at her! Who would ever think that someone who looks like that would be a prostitute?" It´s true; Erika is as prim and proper as they come!
The scarves were a huge hit as was the Johnny Walker Black. I`ll post a picture later.
