Yesterday, I spent four wonderful hours wandering around the Botanical Gardens. It was a bit of a grey day which made the yellows, reds, blues and oranges of the flowers stand out even more brightly.
I think that at least two hours were spent going through the green houses. It seemed funny to me that many of the plants that were behind glass so that no one would touch them, are plants I have in my own garden! Desert roses, orchids, etc. Another room was solely for staghorn ferns. Needless to say, I was far more taken with the poppies, hollyhocks and delphiniums. Isn't it a wonderful world?
By far, the prettiest flower I saw yesterday was in the train station. A tall woman was standing in front of me dressed in a lime green t-shirt, lime green shorts (though a bit too short; her cheeks peeked out below the hemline), lime green socks and, believe it or not, lime green shoes. Her hair was long and looked like that kind of hair that would spread out perfectly on a satin pillow. Her waist was trim and breasts the perfect perky size. Alas, as we know, every flower has a flaw. In this case, it was the enormous mustache on his upper lip.
It was nicely trimmed though.
