More AARGH-ness

The staff at the Gaylord Palms is great! I can't say enough nice things about them.

We were the first team to complete the adventure. Each team had to write an original sea shanty that would be used in the event of a tie and it would be used as the tie-breaker. Of course, being the over-excited, pushy types that we are, we insisted that the office be closed so we could perform our shanty for the staff. Hey! This was potentially for $10,000 and we were going to take every opportunity to be remembered!

Capt. Bartholomew Blackheart and his crew even came in for our performance!

In the excitement, we forgot to hand one of our cameras over to a staff member, but they graciously emailed these to me today:

And what were we singing, you ask? Lucky for you there was no audio as Sue and I are known in the singing world as "The Two Tones". Neither tone is found on any instrument in this world. We believe strongly that if one can't sing well, one should sing loud.

Nonetheless, sing along with me to the tune of "Blow the Man Down."

Shiver me timbers, this last weekend was fun!

Sue (from the great Nepal adventure), her son Liam, Lizzy and I spent a rip-roaring time at the Gaylord Palms playing pirates last weekend.

As the band of dastardly pirates named Scallywags with Scurvy, we solved clues and participated in challenges. There's nothing like having fun with your teenage kids. We could be silly together instead of at each other's throats.

It's almost too bad that it was rated "Family Fun" because challenges such as Wench Pudding Wrestling or Blackheart's Ballbusting would have really added to the adventure. We could have played some kind of charades game called Yo! Ho! I think I'll make those suggestions for next year.

What an amazing hotel, too! The atrium area alone was 4.5 acres of waterfalls, lakes, restaurants and reproductions of Florida landmarks. The lake by the Key West restaurant was big enough to hold a 60 foot sailboat that was also part of the restaurant.

Aside from racing around while we played the game, we had time to swim, eat, drink, relax and, in Lizzy's case, have a back to the womb experience!

I think she expected womb service.
